Historic Districts Near Downtown West Palm Beach

These areas and the historic homes were created in the 1920’s when Palm Beach island was being built-up. The laborers working on Palm Beach lived on the mainland as they were not allowed to stay overnight on the island. They also became the resting places of prominent doctors, lawyers, architects, and the like and you can see why when you drive through these neighborhoods to see the quality and grandeur of the homes. Back then there were no bridges, so boats and ferries were the only transport across the Lake Worth Lagoon.
